Sidney Community
On behalf of the City of Sidney, I wish to welcome you to our community. Sidney is the county seat of Fremont County. We are a growing community and offer many facilities for young and retired families.
Throughout Sidney you will find unique dining and shopping establishments.
Sidney is the host of one of the largest outdoor rodeos and supporters are celebrating over 80 years of great western entertainment for the summer of 2008.
Sidney is a friendly community and a great place to live.

Visitors find Sidney has many surprises
Our family recently had visitors from Omaha who did a little shopping at a store in Sidney and drove around the town a short while.
They appreciated the beauty of the courthouse and observed the new library, the stores north of town and the business places on the square.
The younger couple had recently moved to Omaha from a suburb of Atlanta, GA, and made a quick comparison of Sidney's population compared to those cities.
Our guests asked about our retail businesses and service in Sidney. We found ourselves telling how fortunate we are to have a large grocery, gas station, drug store with pharmacy and gift shop, furniture store, restaurants, beauty and barber salons, auto parts and hardware, swimming pool and much more.
We further explained the availability of doctor, dental and hospital care, veterinary service, attorneys, accountants, insurance and investment people and banking. Also, automotive repair shops, building contractors, computer consultants and more. We mentioned the excellent schools, five churches and, last but not least, Sidney Iowa Rodeo for the past 85 years.
Sometimes we take allot for granted about our little town and only really appreciate it when we see it through the eyes or others. Our visitors helped us see more clearly that we do have bragging rights about living in Sidney, Iowa!
